When people think of a hammock, they envision relaxing by the water, lazily enjoying the day in the background, or rocking gently back and forth while reading a good book. Hammocks are comfortable and provide a unique way to lounge around outdoors. Many years ago, hammocks were all similar. However, things have changed and now you can enjoy hammocks made from different materials, of different sizes, shapes, colors, or choose a hammock chair.
When it comes to selecting the type of hammock that will best fit your needs, you need to understand all the differences and consider your lifestyle. Before you buy a hammock, choose the location where it will be placed, and take measurements. A common mistake is that people buy a hammock only to find out it does not fit where they need to put it. Therefore, it is important to make sure you have all the information before you place the order.
You will have a choice of a rope hammock, and fabric hammock. In most cases, rope hammocks have wooden staves, which help spread the heavier material of the rope. Rope hammocks are popular and look great. This type of hammock can be hung between two trees or used with a stand. Generally, the rope hammock is the most comfortable although they do not conform to the body like that of other hammocks. Unfortunately, if you lay on this hammock without a cushion, you will have the rope imprint on your body. The rope hammock has a weight capacity of 450 pounds and usually stands up against weather and other elements best. The bad part is that rope hammocks can also absorb moisture, which then takes 
time to dry and causes mildew.
Fabric hammocks have been around for thousands of years. When used in the Navy, the material was canvas, which was sturdy and long lasting. This type of hammock is durable and requires little to no maintenance. Some of the newer fabric hammocks are tightly weaved, which makes them even stronger and easy to wash. After rain, just swish the water away and you have a dry hammock to enjoy. The fabric hammock is comfortable and can be used indoors or outdoors.
